Part 1 of 4 in "Is Bigger Always Better?"

Is Bigger always better?

The next few blogs will outline why bigger isn’t always better when it comes to selecting a stone for an engagement ring. Bigger isn’t better when you are sacrificing other diamond or stone qualities for just the mere size of the stone. There are four qualities that are popular when selecting a diamond. You know these as the four Cs. Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat weight. Only one of these, carat weight, refers to the size of your diamond the rest are more specific to the quality of your stone. Some experts cite the cut as being the strongest deciding factor, arguing that an excellent cut can compensate for shortcomings in the other three areas. Other experts believe that the colour is most important, as this is the trait most easily seen by the naked eye. But invariably, no one says that bigger is better.
