Tutus, tiaras and chandeliers... sounds like a dream!

Well mother nature gave us one more snow storm just to remind us who's boss, but now it's spring for real and there is so much to be excited about:  the end of frostbite, the re-introduction of color into the environment, a general feeling of optimism that permeates the tough hides of Bostonians, and the spring concert lineup at Boston Ballet
The Boston Ballet spring season began last weekend with Elo Experience, and over the next 7 weeks they will be present 4 different concerts featuring a variety of classic and contemporary choreography.  This weekend is the last chance to see Elo Experience, a collection of works by resident choreographer Jorma Elo.  The rest of the lineup includes A Midsummer Night's Dream, Bella Figura, and Balachine/Robbins.
As part of my recent vow to get out and be proactive about finding new/interesting/enlightening activities to fill my free time with I've decided to attend each of these four productions, starting tonight!  Plus I love the Opera House with it's opulent marble lobby, exquisite mouldings and dazzling chandeliers.
And if you, like me, are feeling a little under dressed for such lavish surroundings just stop by Skylight and we can whip you up a custom designed diamond tiara (or maybe a slightly more subtle pair of earrings) in time for the next show!

A Spring Craft Event

Craftboston:  This Weekend March 25, 26 & 27

A week ago it felt like spring was finally here and it inspired me to stop hibernating and get out and do more things.  Well, I'm trying to roll with this momentum and not get hung up by the forecast for tonight/tomorrow, eek, which feels like a step in the wrong direction!  So this weekend, in defiance of any potentially inclement weather, with a sense of adventure and optimism, and despite the fact that the silver line is really just a bus masquerading as part of the MBTA subway system, I plan to head over to the Seaport District in Boston and experience a little more of what this fine city has to offer.

First stop:  The Seaport World Trade Center in Boston to visit Spencer and Raymond who will be exhibiting at Craftboston for Skylight Jewelers.  Craftboston takes place twice annually and is produced by the Society of Arts and Crafts. Maybe you've visited the SAC on Newbury Street with their retail space downstairs and an exhibit gallery upstairs, or maybe you are sadly unaware of this not-for-profit organization and the wonderful job they do in supporting craft artists. Either way, Craftboston is a must-see event for any art lover and craft enthusiast.  Show hours:  Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-6, Sunday 11-5 More Info

And while I'm in the neighborhood I plan to check out the current exhibits at the ICA (the Institute of Contemporary Art), maybe grab a bite to eat at one of the tried and true seafood restaurants by the water, and then meander through the new (and improved?) LouisBoston which I haven't visited since they relocated to Fan Pier in the Seaport District.
